Nisene De-Cap Machine

San Clemente, June 11, 2009 – 4 Star Electronics, Inc., a leading distributor of obsolete electronic components added the Nisene De-Cap machine. The addition is part of 4 Stars commitment to quality assurance. The investment will help safegaurd 4 Star and its customers against counterfeit electronic components.

Nisene Technology Group is the world leader in plastic package electronic component etching using the Jet Etch II D-Cap series Etcher. The Nisene De-Cap machine works by placing heated acid(Sulfuric / Nitric) on the surface of the package. It does this until the silicon die is exposed.

The first decapsulation system from the early 1980's has undergone a number of enhancements throughout its lineage. Starting with the original "JetEtch" decapsulation system, then progressing through the 250, 350, and D-cap series, the latest automated decapper offered by Nisene Technology Group has come full-circle and is now officially re-named the JetEtch. 4 Star Electronics iscurrently using the next level of JetEtch known as the JetEtch II.

A graphical representation of the process is shown below. Fig 1 shows the external packages before the de-cap process takes place. Fig 2 demonstrates what the electronic component looks like after it had been de-capped. The die markings are circled in red. Fig 3 provides a magnified view of one of the die markings.
