4 Star Electronics Awarded QTSL Program Certification
San Clemente, California, March 2, 2013 - 4 Star Electronics, an industry-leading supplier of hard-to-find components, has been awarded QTSL Program certification
4 Star Electronics is proud to announce its continued approval as a trusted supplier for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime. This announcement comes after an extensive facility audit of 4 Star Quality Management System and its in-house inspection and test laboratory. Their acceptance into the Qualified Testing Suppliers List (QTSL) program, in addition to the existing Qualified Suppliers List of Distributors (QSLD) program, is the latest example of the commitment to quality that 4 Star Electronics is known for.
The QTSL approval allows 4 Star Electronics to supply the DLA Land and Maritime divisions with Federal Stock Class (FSC) 5961 and 5962 devices. These critical semiconductor and microcircuit items are processed through 4 Star's comprehensive counterfeit avoidance program and electrical testing procedures. This technology helps protect critical DoD weapon systems from the counterfeit epidemic found with non-traceable legacy components.
“The QTSL program is very important to the DLA as well as 4 Star because of the implications it has on the integrity of the supply chain”, said Scott McKee, 4 Star Director of Operations. “The components we’re authenticating are going into mission critical and life critical applications that are vital to all of us. The creation of this program acknowledges the importance of quality independent distributors in providing non-traceable products that aren’t available through authorized channels.”
To determine eligibility to join the DLA Land and Maritime's Qualified Testing Suppliers List program, the DLA completed an audit of the in-house quality management system and inspection process at 4 Star. Based on the DLA review, 4 Star Electronics is considered one of only three qualified electronic component distributors eligible to supply FSC 5961 and 5962 components at this time, as determined in the Criteria and Provisions document for the QTSL program.
About the QTSL Program
The purpose of the QTSL Program is to mitigate the risk of nonconforming or counterfeit semiconductors and microcircuits entering the DLA Land and Maritime supply chain by testing and other quality assurance processes. Under the QTSL program, the DLA Land and Maritime creates and manages a list of pre-qualified sources for the supply of obsolete semiconductor and microcircuit components.
QTSL certification is presented to suppliers of electronic components that combine accepted counterfeit mitigation practices and quality assurance procedures that are consistent with industry and international quality standards. This program is applicable to selected Federal Stock Class items where a streamlined acquisition process is desired to improve the quality and service to our military forces.
