Silicon General was a major supplier of linear integrated circuits, changed its name to Symmetricom in November 1993 and continued to be a leader in network synchronization and timing. In 1999, Symmetricom and its subsidiary Linfinity Microelectronics, merged with Microsemi, a semiconductor manufacturer specializing in system-engineered integrated circuits.
